LO1. 1.1 What is a personal media profile?

A personal media profile is another form of a digital portfolio, but rather than just showcasing content, it may well contain testimonials, blogs or experiences which are relevant to the sector the profile is aimed at.  A personal media profile is represented as a digital form of a portfolio, which may showcase audio visuals as a film reel, or a collation of photos you have previously taken, it’s initial meaning of a personal media profile is to forecast your creative potential and content to it’s employer. A social media profile relates to having a Facebook, Instagram etc profile, which in this context relates to personal and social content, with no reference to employment purposes and focuses more on an audience.

Why do I need a personal media profile?

I need a personal media profile throughout my two years studying Digital Media, this is due to the fact that it can show progression throughout our years of study, starting from the start and how we have developed our analysis and attitude towards the subject. This is beneficial to us as it can also show people how we have developed, while also keeping a personal calendar of what we have done to date.

Strengths and Weaknesses of Digital Portfolios

Strengths

  • ·         Easily accessible, available to see on any device at any time.
  • ·         Work can be shown up to date and at high quality.
  • ·         Digital work can be displayed in a variety of interesting and interactive ways.
  • ·         Huge range of media sectors to be used (video, images, etc).

Weaknesses

  • ·         May require knowledge about building and designing websites, especially if wanting to make more interesting and aesthetically pleasing layouts.
  • ·         Has to be regularly updated, unless it will fall behind.
  • ·         Some work is best seen physically and easily grasped in person.

Product Advertisement... Lucozade Unit 20

Product History

Lucozade is a soft drink manufactured and marketed by the Japanese company Suntory. Created as "Glucozade" in the UK in 1927 by a Newcastle pharmacist, William Walker Hunter, (trading as W. Owen & Son),it was acquired by the British pharmaceutical company Beecham's in 1938 and sold as Lucozade, an energy drink for the sick. The company's advertising slogan was "Lucozade aids recovery".

A glucose and water solution, the product was sold until 1983 as a carbonated, slightly orange-flavoured drink in a glass bottle wrapped in yellow cellophane. Pharmacists sold it, children were given it when ill, and hospital visitors would regularly arrive with a bottle. It was re-branded in 1978 as a "pick me up", and as a sports drink in 1983, to associate it with health rather than sickness. The company switched to a plastic bottle and introduced a range of flavours. As of 2016, a 500 ml bottle contained 62 g (15.5 cubes) of sugar, more than Coca-Cola. In 2017, to avoid sugar tax, the drink was reformulated to contain 22.5 g of sugar per 500 ml of liquid, as well as artificial sweeteners.

Following on from that,
This Advert from 1979, 'Lucozade aids recovery'. During this Advert, you can hear the singer in the background singing 'The best part of getting better is Lucozade', This is an example of how Audio Visual can be very effective because this Advert has a very catchy tune to it, making it memorable.

This is a Lucozade Advert from 2018, In this Advert it shows Anthony's life story and how over the years of his life, he went through troubles and dark times throughout his career and how his life changed drastically due to Boxing, which has now led him to being sponsored by Lucozade, In this Advert, it gives a powerful message saying 'Nobody ever moved forward standing still', which gives people an insight on what type of feeling you may encounter when consuming their product.

This Video that I have inserted is my Advert, I used the same powerful message from the Anthony Joshua Lucozade advert, 'Nobody ever moved forward standing still',  as this gives a motivational incentive to Lucozade consumers and viewers to become more active and do something which is going to be beneficial to them.

The Target Audience of my Advertisement is teenagers aged 13-19 who don't really know what their purpose in life is yet, as they are still deciding what they want to do later in life, I want my Advert to give the viewers an incentive to get up and put themselves out of their comfort zone. too many people are happy with just being comfortable and staying in their own lanes, people need to become more comfortable with being uncomfortable and this is why I made my advertisement.

Rationale & Expected Outcomes...

  • Global advertising expenditure is at an all-time high, valued at more than £500 billion. While practically all marketers agree that measuring advertising effectiveness is key to ensuring value for the huge flow of funds into the industry however, actually doing so remains a very difficult task. With increasing competition entering the industry developing new metrics for this measurement has become essential.
  • In a fast-paced world of constant change and market disruption, strong marketing has become more important than ever before, with companies needing to make increasing efforts to distinguish themselves from the growing number of competitors in their segment. As a result, investment in advertising presently sits at an all-time high. With global expenditure on advertising exceeding £500 billion in 2015, having since grown by an estimated 5.2% in 2016, it has become increasingly important to craft good marketing strategies, including an important and well organised plan for executing them further down the line.
  • Marketers therefore find their hands full with executing marketing strategies, aimed at awareness, branding, sales, or a combination of the three. At the same time, with growing stakes, it has become increasingly important for marketing experts to validate that record spending by demonstrating a concrete return on investment. The marketing industry as a whole is picking up on this – according to new research drawn from a survey of over 2,700 marketers in nine countries. The study, conducted by Research Now together with E-consultancy, shows that almost all brand and agency marketers now understand the importance of analytics and campaign-level measurement to prove the effectiveness of their advertising services.

Beanz Advertising...Unit 20

  • This is the Advertising of the Bean company we created called Leighton Beanz, named after the football player Leighton Baines. As you can see, the can is inspired by the World wide leaders of bean production, Heinz. but we believe that we can better them.
  • We have created the Bean Mobile, based outside multiple football stadiums throughout the UK, planning to go worldwide. On match days, the Bean Mobile sells all sorts of Bean related food, anywhere from Beans on Toast, Bean Panini to Beans on Jacket Potatoes. The Bean Mobile offers a healthier alternative to the greasy, deep fat fried food that is always on sale during match days, pushing the overweight tallies in the UK which is also a big problem, which is why they brought in the Sugar Tax.
